Warren Buffett Event!

This is the third year I’ve done this event.  It is lots of fun.  Mr. Buffett has business school students from all over the world come to Omaha and meet with him for a few days.  The college students tour some of his companies such as Nebraska Furniture Mart, Borsheims and Berkshire Hathaway.  They have a question and answer session with him and then he takes eveyone to lunch at Piccolo Petes Steak House in South side Omaha.  Really a wonderful place to eat.  It’s not where you would think a Billionaire would hang out either.  One of Mr. Buffett’s favs is rootbeer floats which he buys for everyone.

Check out the photos with the students.  Like you have  never seen Warren Buffett before.  The Students are from the University of Arizona Business School.  A fun bunch to spend the afternoon with!

Check out the Tebow pose!

BNI

My BNI group (Business Networking International) has right now 18 members that we pass referrals to one another. We are growing it to 25 members. If you would like to come to one of our meetings on Tuesday at 12:00 noon let me know and I can arrange it so you are a guest.

This is your personal invitation to visit BNI, an organization specializing in business referrals.

1) We only allow one person from each profession. So if you join, all other like professions are locked out of that chapter (group).

2) We meet every week for lunch to pass referrals.

3) We believe in word-of-mouth advertising.

4) We are structured, positive & supportive.

Email or call me and I would be happy to explain more.

Michelangelo’s LA PIETA

In St. Cecilia Cathedral here in Omaha for a short time is a display of the full scale reproduction of Michelangelo’s LA PIET’A. www.LaPieta.com

It is one of the greatest sculptures ever created and after seeing it up close (this was a identical reproduction from the same mould) you see why. It was the only sculpture ever signed by Michelangelo. It was kind of funny because I was looking for his signature and could not find it. I asked my wife where did he sign it at and I was looking in the bottom corners looking for it. But right out in front of me St. Mary is wearing this strap going across the front of her where Michelangelo signed it in big bold letters.

Up close the detail in this sculpture is amazing carved in marble. The surface of the marble shines prefect under the lighting because of the way it is finished and polished. It is so hard to believe that this was created almost 500 years ago. Imagine the tools he used to carve marble back then.

LaPieta means Pity. It was made for a tomb I think. The original sculpture is in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican (Rome). In 1972 some crazy person went up to the original sculpture and took a hammer to it damaging it. During the reconstruction of the original sculpture they made a mould of it to produce this reproduction of it that I saw. Now the one in Rome is behind bullet proof glass from a distance. Why in the world would someone do something like that? It is so crazy this sculpture was just fine for 450 or so years and then someone in recent days try to destroy it. Go figure?

Anyway I’ve never seen up close Michelangelo’s work before. I’m glad I finally did. Probably the greatest artist ever.

Here is my version of La Pieta. I photographed it this morning. It was nice because I was the only one there and could move around it.

Warren Buffett Business School Event

This is a fun event that I have done twice for the Business School at the University of Arizona. Warren Buffett has Business Schools come from all around the world about 6 times a year to meet with him here in Omaha. There was about 200 students that toured Nebraska Furniture Mart, Borsheim’s Jewelry, Q&A with Mr. Buffett and then a lunch at Piccolos Pete’s Steak House. I photographed candid photos at the lunch. Lots of fun. Seeing Mr. Buffett with all the students is amazing. He jokes around like you never have seen him before.

Love the root beer float!

A T-Shirt and a basketball from Arizona.

Striking a pose. It got pretty crazy.

PPA See the Difference

Hello everyone,

These are videos from the Professional Photographers of American Organization or PPA. I’ve been a member with them for about 30 years now and have my Master of Photography Degree through them. They are the oldest and largest Professional Photographer group in the world. I’m showing this on my blog because it shows why it’s important to use a professional photographer instead of a person with a camera like many brides are trying now. I’m going to post several of them so thanks for checking them out and I hope they are helpful.

Indianapolis 500

My first time at the Indy 500. I’ve followed the race since the early 70′s and have always wanted to go. This year I just made it happen and it was great. Now I want to go every year.

Here are a few pics taken mostly from my seat. This was the green flag of the start of the race. Movie Star Jack Nicholson got the honors of starting the race. He is the one in the blue shirt and everyone is pointing the camera at him.

Pace Car was 2011 Chevrolet Camaro.
After the National Anthem was the fly over.
NASCAR Richard Petty “The King” was on the track right before the race. The guy in the hat, sun glasses and white shirt.
Jim Nabors (Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.) singing Back Home Again in Indiana. This has been a tradition at Indianapolis 500 for the last 64 years.
Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines. This is Mari Hulman-George who says this now made famous by her father. I think her father owned the speedway.

Also in this photo is Jim Nabors and Florence Henderson (Brady Bunch Mom) who sang “God Bless America”

The winner!!! Target Car #10 Dario Franchitti.

*2nd time winner
*From Scotland and lives in Nashville, TN
*Married to actress Ashley Judd
*Won 2.75 million for first place
This is Danica Patrick and her Go Daddy.com car. My seat was across from her pit area. She was Booed many times by the crowd. I heard it was because earlier in the week she was yelling at her pit crew team and she had her mic on when doing so. Everyone heard it. Probably one of the best woman drivers. Every year there seems to have more woman in the Indy 500.

These drivers are crazy and fearless if you ask me. Seeing them go over 200 mph is amazing.
