Congrats to my brother Jordan and my amazing new sister in law Elizabeth. Love you so much and glad we have such awesome pictures to remember your wedding day!:]

  • The pictures are wonderful. Love the pictures in the hills and canyons. We are so happy that the photographer captured some of the special moments prior to the wedding at the church and the more relaxing moments after the wedding at the reception site. Love the attention to detail in capturing photos of the rings, flowers, wedding mints, and candles on the bridal party table.
As parents we are often too busy on special days to notice some of those special moments. Mr. Gunderson seems to capture small moments of time nearly effortlessly. We were so pleased to see the photos as it helped us realized the day was beautiful in many ways despite the relocation of the wedding reception. Jordan and Elizabeth will always cherish Mr. Gunderson’s unique style of photography and willingness to travel for special events.

  • Beautiful pictures of a beautiful couple!!!

Michelangelo’s LA PIETA

In St. Cecilia Cathedral here in Omaha for a short time is a display of the full scale reproduction of Michelangelo’s LA PIET’A. www.LaPieta.com

It is one of the greatest sculptures ever created and after seeing it up close (this was a identical reproduction from the same mould) you see why. It was the only sculpture ever signed by Michelangelo. It was kind of funny because I was looking for his signature and could not find it. I asked my wife where did he sign it at and I was looking in the bottom corners looking for it. But right out in front of me St. Mary is wearing this strap going across the front of her where Michelangelo signed it in big bold letters.

Up close the detail in this sculpture is amazing carved in marble. The surface of the marble shines prefect under the lighting because of the way it is finished and polished. It is so hard to believe that this was created almost 500 years ago. Imagine the tools he used to carve marble back then.

LaPieta means Pity. It was made for a tomb I think. The original sculpture is in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican (Rome). In 1972 some crazy person went up to the original sculpture and took a hammer to it damaging it. During the reconstruction of the original sculpture they made a mould of it to produce this reproduction of it that I saw. Now the one in Rome is behind bullet proof glass from a distance. Why in the world would someone do something like that? It is so crazy this sculpture was just fine for 450 or so years and then someone in recent days try to destroy it. Go figure?

Anyway I’ve never seen up close Michelangelo’s work before. I’m glad I finally did. Probably the greatest artist ever.

Here is my version of La Pieta. I photographed it this morning. It was nice because I was the only one there and could move around it.

Warren Buffett Business School Event

This is a fun event that I have done twice for the Business School at the University of Arizona. Warren Buffett has Business Schools come from all around the world about 6 times a year to meet with him here in Omaha. There was about 200 students that toured Nebraska Furniture Mart, Borsheim’s Jewelry, Q&A with Mr. Buffett and then a lunch at Piccolos Pete’s Steak House. I photographed candid photos at the lunch. Lots of fun. Seeing Mr. Buffett with all the students is amazing. He jokes around like you never have seen him before.

Love the root beer float!

A T-Shirt and a basketball from Arizona.

Striking a pose. It got pretty crazy.

Jordan’s High School Senior Portraits

This past weekend I photographed Jordan and thought I would share a few photos. He graduated mid term from Burke High School here in Omaha. We went to the Old Market Downtown to photograph and it worked out well as you can see. The weather is finally warming up and it feels good to get outside again.
